Elsewhere

The abundance of Vitosha on the outskirts of Sofia is a National Park with chairlifts and cable cars to advice with the ascendance as it is about 1800m (6000ft) high. Further south still, travelers can appointment two of Bulgaria’s building towns: Melnik is accepted for its wine cellars, 18th to 19th aeon architectonics and its adjacency to Rozhen Monastery with its beautifully carved altar, stained-glass windows, murals and icons; and the building boondocks of Bansko, at the bottom of Pirin Mountain, contains the Holy Trinity Abbey with its carved ceilings and murals, and its monastery-like houses with top rock walls.

Bulgaria is anchored in Eastern Europe and belted to the arctic by the River Danube and Romania, to the east by the Black Sea, to the south by Turkey and Greece and to the west by Serbia & Montenegro and the Above Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The Balkan Mountains cantankerous the country extensive to the bend of the Black Sea and its aureate beaches. The acreage is heavily cultivated, covered with forests and beyond by rivers. Although Bulgaria lies in the actual southeast bend of Europe, the altitude is never acute in summer, even on the red-earthed plains of Southern Thrace. The Black Sea resorts accept some of the better beaches in Europe and action sunbathing from May until October, while in winter abundant avalanche of snow are around affirmed in the abundance skiing resorts.

Bulgarian Fauna

Bulgarian fauna numbers some 13,000 species, which is 14 % of the total number of registered animal species in Europe. Rare mammal species are to be found in this country. Reserves and hunting grounds are inhabited by pelicans, stags, deer, does, wild goats, quails, pheasants, etc.

A network of 3 national parks has been set up (with a total area of 221,252.2 ha) - Rila, Pirin, and the Central Balkan, 9 natural parks (over 180,000 ha), reserves, as well as 2,234 protected territories and natural landmarks. Of them the Pirin National Park and the Sreburna biosphere-reserve have been included in UNESCO’s world heritage list. Together with further 16 biosphere reserves they offer wonderful conditions for photo-hunting, scientific-and-cognitive tourism and hobby tourism.

Bulgarian Flora

Bulgaria has many territories, which have preserved in their natural state unique natural nooks, preserving a remarkable bio-diversity. Contemporary natural vegetation demonstrates a considerable ecological diversity. A total of 12,360 species have been found in its composition, of which 3,700 higher plants.

The Bulgarian endemic plants which are to be found nowhere else world-wide, number more than 250: Rila primrose, Balkan violet, Bulgarian blackberry, Rhodopean tulip… Forests abound with wild fruits, briers, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, mushrooms all of them of proven flavour and of qualities strengthening the body. There is also a great diversity of herbs and healing plants
